By the end of February we had the end in sight and started the complicated laying pattern in the last areas of the panels.
Finally at the end of March, we finished the middle three panels of the 7-panel mosaic mural, and grouted in my makeshift studio in my living room! We love how the white tile turned out. It really represents well, the light bouncing off of the beams that hold up the round barn roof structure. It makes them visually alive and creates great depth. We transported the panels and installed them on the wall in April.
ANNOUNCING! CALL TO MOSAIC ARTISTS - OPENS TODAY!
The Roundhouse Foundation, through their Pine Meadow Ranch for Art & Agriculture artist residency program, has set up a Call to Mosaic Artists to apply for a 2-week mosaic residency May 31 – June 15, 2022 at their beautiful ranch and have the opportunity to work with Rochelle & Lynn on creating the remaining four mosaic panels of the Pine Meadow Ranch mosaic mural!
Who: Professional mosaic artists, Rochelle Schueler and Lynn Adamo, will curate and facilitate the activities of a two-week-long residency for two experienced mosaic artists at Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts and Agriculture (PMRCAA). Mosaic artists from around the world are invited to apply. The selection will be juried by Schueler, Adamo, and PMRCAA staff. The final selection will be approved by the Board of Trustees.
When: May 31 - June 15, 2022 with option to extend your residency two additional weeks (June 16- 28, 2022) for a self-directed residency.
What: Experienced mosaic artists are invited to apply to assist in the completion of a mosaic project started in Jan 2020 by the collaborative artist team of Rochelle Schueler and Lynn Adamo. Schueler and Adamo have finished fabricating the first three of seven panels they designed for a mosaic installation at the ranch. The Roundhouse Foundation is funding the project materials; selected artist residents will be accommodated at PMRCAA in a newly renovated ranch home with a pool and paid a stipend each. Artists will live and work together to complete the project. Rochelle and Lynn will facilitate the completion of the 7-panel project. Surplus high-fired ceramic tiles from Kibak Tile in Sisters have been provided for re-use in the mosaic project. These will continue to be collected through 2022 by PMRCAA.
Why: The Roundhouse Foundation believes in the power of creativity and collaboration. This mosaic project will be a permanent part of the Pine Meadow Ranch collection and will support the medium of contemporary mosaic art.
How: This is a selection process. Below are the requirements to be considered:
