Wow, I can't believe I got my first business license 10 years ago, today! How time flies! I didn't go searching out mosaics, but the mosaic world somehow found me. I have met so many great people on this journey, traveled to new worlds, and discovered talents I didn't know I had.
My first commission - a concrete mosaic bench for 2 sisters celebrating the memory of their master gardener mom.
My first installation in Bend - a collaboration with artist Justyn Livingston where we won an ABC Award from the City of Bend.
Traveling to Haiti to work with my mentor, Laurel True, and her team of young adults to create four 9' x 12' murals in the entry to the regional hospital in Jacmel.
Started teaching classes. The mosaic garden stake class is by far the favorite!
Most Surprising mosaic. I submitted a design to a digital mosaic contest inspired by Las Vegas & was one of the TOP 3 FINALISTS, so I was flown to Las Vegas and had to get up on stage and talk in front of 1500 people!
Most Challenging commission. What to do with a huge pile of plastic hotel room keys? I was very happy with the final product!
My tile mural, Ripple Effect, was juried into the 2019 Mosaic Arts International Architectural & Site-Specific Mosaic exhibition in Nashville, TN
A super fun installation with friend and colleague, Lynn Adamo. We had to figure out all of the logistics to make the mosaic at her studio, ship it down to Loreto, Baja, Mexico, and then install it on sketchy scaffolding! Lovely clients!
-2022 Lead my first huge mosaic project to create the keystone art piece at the Pine Meadow Ranch artist residency program headquarters in Sisters, OR. I started in the winter of Covid working in an old shop where I had to start the woodstove every morning and finished in the summer of 2022 with the help of Lynn Adamo and 3 mosaic artist residents. The project is a 25’ seven-panel exterior tile mural. Thank you Kathy Deggendorfer for your vision of this project!
My last commission of the 10 year period was an installation last fall behind a bar at Fire on the Mountain Buffalo Wings, a local restaurant in Bend.
