Kaleidoscope Mural
Design and project facilitation by Laurel True
Production by students in the 7-Day Mural Making Intensive at Institute of Mosaic Art
Laurel True, internationally recognized mosaic muralist, co-founded the Institute of Mosaic Art in the Jingletown neighborhood of Oakland, CA, in 2005, a pioneering mosaic education and resource center. She moved her studio to New Orleans, LA, passing the baton for IMA to new owners who moved the Institute to Berkeley, CA, in 2010.
In August 2013, Laurel was invited by IMA to come back as a visiting artist to teach her popular week-long Mural Making Intensive workshop and create the first large-scale mural at the new facility to hang in the courtyard. I was a student in this class of ten and worked for an intense week building this beautiful mural. This class was the inspiration for me to fall in love with mosaic murals, start my business, and create the close working relationship I have with the amazing artist, Laurel True.
